Membership in a local guild is not a requirement for membership in the North Carolina Basketmakers' Association. However, a guild meeting is a great place to meet other weavers who are just as obsessed with weaving as you are are or to find a mentor who is a more experienced basket maker than you are and can help you refine your techniques. Meetings also are good excuses to run away from home-- at least for a few hours!
