You can view the beautiful works created by members of the National Basketry Organizationon-line, but when you do, you'll want to become a member. There is room for all weavers here as the organization's mission is to promote "the art, skill heritage, and education of traditional and contemporary basketry."

Many members of the Georgia Basketry Association also are members of NCBA and vice-versa, and several of the Georgia local guilds are affiliated with NCBA. The Association puts on a rousing convention every February, as well as other events throughout the year.

It has been webmaster policy that commercial sites not be included in these links. An exception is made here, for V.I. Reed and Cane not because we endorse the supplier, but because the site offers an array of basketry history, education, hints and how-tos for the basket maker with excellent photos and easy-to-follow directions. Be sure to see the interesting note on Creativity at the bottom of the home page.

Prepare to be awestruck when you see the work of the wonderful artists on the Pine Needle Group. The immense quantity of information on this site will take you a good while to read, so pull up a comfortable chair, make yourself a nice cup of hot chocolate, and enjoy.

Cindy Stanton does a great job designing and maintaining the Tidewater Basketry Guild site. She also edits the guild's newsletter which truly is "newsy" and is available on line. Photos of class baskets and information about Guilders' Weave 2004 in January. Nice photos of members and events.

Baskets, Etc. is one of the oldest and best basketry sites on the internet, administered by Linda Braun. Articles, convention listings and a thorough listing by state of supply sites.

Susi Nuss' comprehensive site, www.basketmakers.org has EVERYthing to do with basketry on it. Forums, links to free patterns, free basket graphics, to name just a few items of interest. So much more.

Weavers' Words - Bonnie Krist publishes this compilation of basket makers' e-mails. Topics range from materials and patterns searches to basket swaps and basket vacation suggestions. To subscribe, send an email to the yahoo groups automated system, and Bonnie will approve you!
